Cost Plus Policy 2011-03-17

Cost Plus Pricing In an attempt to adapt to all the changes and requests as outlined in History/Information
below, Jim decided to completely change Stones of Brasil's method of marketing/pricing. He has decided upon a Cost Plus
platform. "Cost Plus? How does that work?" It's really rather
simple; we are going to declare up front that we will add only 33.3% (1/3) commissions to our cost on Retail listed pieces,
on some larger more expensive pieces as little as 10%, and 16.5% to our cost on Wholesale listed lots. To Retail pieces we
will also add the 3.9% Credit Card Fee charges. Clients who agree to pay via Direct Bank to Bank Wire Transfer to our American
HSBC accounts will be discounted the Credit Card fees. Shipping we have no control over but, if your response to this new
pricing program allows us, we will incorporate and thus be able to open an account with Brasilian Correios to receive some
discount. Payment for Wholesale Lots will now only be accepted via wire to our American HSBC accounts. So that's it!
All Retail Listings and Wholesale Lots have been changed to reflect this new Cost Plus pricing structure. We hope to
see a strong response from you, our clients, your refferals, and new clients. We will attempt to revive Monthly Specials by
asking the gentlemen with whom we work to discount pieces each month to be put on "Special". We unfortunately
however; can no longer give discounts on pieces, not if we are to survive.

A Little History/Information
Nine years ago Stones of Brasil started out as Ziegler Imported Stone. The business
was started for the "Mineros", Street Venders, and Artists. Its stated mission was "...to bring better prices
for their gemstones, points, spheres, carvings and mineral specimens. The men whose lives and the lives of whose families
I hope to improve." Please see...The Pedras Preciosas Business in Brasil Characteristics of the stones market in Brasil have changed dramatically
over the last nine years. The majority of the small mines have closed due to environmental regulations. Ninety percent of
the street venders are gone, as are many of the artists. The business has consolidated into the hands, in some cases somewhat
unclean, of those who have the financial backing to incorporate, comply with regulations, and maintain warehousing to sell
their own stock. Many of these gentlemen are well traveled, have been to Tucson/Hong
Kong and are well aware of the prices that their materials command on the world market so; suffice it to say that there are
very few "guys just looking to feed their families" and deals any longer. In fact, as your primary response to the
Stones of Brasil survey has been to ask for lower pricing; we have been receiving tremendous pressure to increase pricing
and absorb fees here on our end. And here Jim sits, as a photographer who shoots and lists these gentleman's pieces on his
sites, in the middle barely making it himself.
