About Stones of Brasil
How It Began
Jim was a
business owner (North-West Barn Rebuilders) in and a member of a family known throughout the Fairfield County CT
area for their professionalism, integrity, and quality of services and products. At the suggestion of a friend, Josi Rodregus,
he traveled to Minas Gerais, Brasil and stayed for most of the 2002 - 2003 winter season. Jim has osteoporosis / ostio-arthritis,
as Josi had suggested the hot, dry climate of Governador Valadares
was very good for him and he felt better than he had in years.
While there
he met a gentleman who offered to teach him the stones business. The idea just clicked! He was taken by the beautiful stones
that he had seen in the street markets and at local dealers, it was much less physically demanding than barn rebuilding, he
felt great in the climate, and key it would provide an income in U.S. dollars. Upon returning to Ct, after some investigation
into the potential of the business and consideration concerning life in a foriegn country, he launched Ziegler Imported Stone and laid plans to return to Brasil to live. Ziegler Imported Stone has developed into a commercial brokerage of granite &
marble slabs, cut to size, countertops, and tile selling to distributors, retail outlets, developers, and fabricators worldwide.
Stones of
Brasil began in 2004 as a discount ID on eBay and eventually developed into a separate web site.
In the past five years Jim has been at Tucson twice, broken
into wholesale sales, and sold over a thousand pieces to people all over the world. We are grateful that we have
many extremely happy clients. "Deus `e bom!"

Marinelia
Marinelia,
Jim's wife of the last two years is a sweet girl. They met while Marinelia was working at a sidewalk cafe that Jim frequented
daily. (Hmmm, I wonder why?) They knew each other for two years before dating and married six months later on 03/26/05.
Marinelia is
devoutly Evangelical and involved in her church. She helps Jim out with the business, translating in the rough spots and mailing
packages when Jim is away. She also runs the house, takes care of Jim and the dog Yako (No Easy Feat, That Dog Is Like A Little
Kid!) and runs around paying her Mother's, brother Wellington's and Jim's bills in her free time. All this
and looks beautiful the whole time…“I just don’t know how she does it!”
Those of
you who have been with us for a while know of Marinelia's U.S. Visitor Visa Saga (It's the latest TeleNovela sensation!).
She as yet has not succeeded in being allowed to visit the United States.
We're thinking of trying someplace easier to go for a VISIT!,
like The Netherlands, in the coming year. Marinelia wants to see a field full of tulips and Jim has promised her dinner on
a canal boat.
